Our

Mission & Values

We are on a mission to create a world of abundance where everyone has access to fresh, healthy food. To do this, we are actively ending food insecurity by delivering high-quality unsold food to those who need it most.

About 30 percent of high-quality food in grocery stores is thrown away each year, generating 16 billion pounds of food waste. By harnessing the power of collaboration, WeFeed delivers this unsold food to organisations that provide food access to the most vulnerable people in Northern California.

WeFeed was founded in 2001 by John Markson, a second-generation grocer who realised that we could end food insecurity in our lifetime by simply connecting abundant supply with needed demand. Motivated by his Christian values, he set out to create an organisation that tackled the problem of hunger head-on through the power of radical collaboration, education and innovation.

Our Board

Each member of our board of directors is actively committed to ending food insecurity in Northern California in our lifetime. They each bring a unique set of skills and expertise to help keep WeFeed accountable to its mission.
